Built in 1960, this 1,000 sq.m. theater has been restored and reimagined by our office as a flexible 300-seat cultural venue — guided by the clarity and restraint of the International style.
We were selected in 2011 to transform the fully gutted structure into a contemporary performance center, working within strict preservation constraints that required maintaining the original building outline. Our approach emphasized simplicity, functionality, and adaptability — incorporating new programmatic needs and technical systems without altering the building’s character. The result is a vibrant, multi-use theater that hosts live performances, screenings, lectures, and concerts. Its interior is designed for versatility, with the ability to shift atmospheres and open up to the garden outside — creating a seamless dialogue between past and present, architecture and performance.
