Bat Yam Urban Landscape Masterplan

Designing a green framework for an evolving coastal city.

The Landscape Chapter of the Bat Yam Master Plan sets forth a comprehensive vision for the city’s future public realm — integrating ecology, infrastructure, and movement into a sustainable and connected urban fabric.

Built on extensive research and rooted in Bat Yam’s existing assets — its compact urban grid, distinctive park system, and coastal promenades — the plan proposes a layered approach to landscape, tying together urban development, transportation, environmental systems, and irrigation strategies. At its core is the “Green Network,” a continuous, walkable system of public spaces that links commercial and civic centers, open spaces, the shoreline, and the city’s periphery. More than just a mobility strategy, the Green Network acts as ecological infrastructure, embedding blue-green systems that manage runoff, promote biodiversity, and create resilient urban edges. The plan positions landscape as both a connector and a catalyst — a tool for shaping public life, addressing climate adaptation, and enhancing everyday urban experience. In doing so, it redefines the role of open space in coastal cities, offering Bat Yam a robust, future-ready framework for sustainable growth.
